What is the heart of Beyond Blue Studio?
The cornerstone of the studio is the PreSonus Firepod. It is an 8 channel 24bit 96khz
D/A interface. The signal than journeys via the firewire connection into the Dell Hyperthreaded 3.2Ghz, 120GB, Music
Computer. This computer is dedicated solely for the purpose of recording music. From there it runs through a high
end recording software which is Sonar 3 Producer Edition. In the domain of Sonar there is a multitude of high quality
digital effects engines and processors. After the initial recording is made and mixed down it is mastered with Sony
Soundforge which has its own range of processing engines to tailor the sound to perfection.
The entire recording begins with a variety of
intrument specific microphones, primarily Sennheiser. These can be combined with one another to obtain the desired sound.
From there the sound can be further enhanced using either the PreSonus Tube Pre or the Behringer Ultragain Mic 200 Tube Pre,
or using them in conjuction with one another. After this the signal runs through a Samson S Com Stereo Compressor.
This is essentially the base of the ever improving recording platform that is used in Beyond Blue Studio.
